the IOEMA collection of outsider art

The International Outsider Exhibition of Modern Art (IOEMA) collection began in 1999. Our only goal is to expose the greatest array of art to the greatest array of people. I like to think of the site as an electronic 14 Rue Clauzel and sometimes, when it is late and dark, I hear Pere Tanguy laughing!

The key to everything we do lies in the great artwork created by the artists we are so honored to exhibit; without them, we would wander the earth vacant, shaking an empty fist at the moon.

Some of the artists are challenged, some are not and some tear cellophane into slivers. Some are self taught, some have MFA's and some a little of both. A few are inspired, a few visionary, a few battling good and evil. Some stick together what comes their way. Some paint what they see and hear and feel. Others paint what they want us to see. Some don't paint at all.

I didn't recruit artists; they found their own way to our original site outsiderart.info, stumbling in through the dark internet fabric. I have no board, committee, judges or jury. Looking at a submission, if I liked it or think that my visitors would like it, I put the work on the site. I only accepted artist submissions. I only emailed back on submissions that I would exhibit. I did not charge a fee but all exhibited artists sent an original here for me to keep.

Our artists are free to sell their work through email or any way else commission free and we can help facilitate a sale commission free. I encourage direct sales through the artists or their agents.
